 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Proper maintenance protects your investment and keeps your carpets beautiful for years to come

  • Plant fibers are naturally absorbent, so these carpets should not be used in damp areas or in rooms where spills are likely (such as bathrooms and kitchens)
  • Vacuum frequently to remove surface dirt. To prevent excessive wear on carpet fibers, use a suction-only canister vacuum or adjust your vacuum brush to the setting furthest from the carpet’s surface
  • Immediately remove spills using a clean, dry cloth
  • Natural fiber carpets cannot be steam cleaned or wet shampooed. Instead, use professional cleaning services as needed
  • To prevent dirt from being tracked onto your carpets, place doormats at all frequently used entrances and clean them regularly
  • Change vacuum cleaner bags when half full
  • Regularly check and change heating and air-conditioning filters

 TIPS FOR SPOT REMOVAL

Quick removal of spots and spills is essential for keeping your carpet beautiful. Here are some tips for success:

  • Immediately blot—not rub—liquid spills with a paper towel or a dry, absorbent cloth. Rubbing can push liquids deeper into carpet fibers, making the stain worse
  • Remove spilled solids with a spoon, working from the outside to the inside of the spill to avoid spreading it
  • Only use dry cleaning products such as Wool Dri, Capture, or Host for spot removal. Pre-test product first in an inconspicuous area
  • Different stains require different cleaning treatments and cleaners—bookmark the chart below for reference
  • Apply the appropriate cleaner to an absorbent towel and gently blot up the spill. To avoid re-applying the staining material, flip the cloth
  • Avoid excess water when cleaning; do not oversaturate your carpet
  • To prevent a stain from spreading, work inward from the edges of the stain as you clean.
  • Be aware that cleaning agents may take a few minutes to start working
  • After the stain has been removed, use paper towels or a dry absorbent cloth to blot residual moisture.
  • Rinse stain area with clean water, then dry by blotting with paper towels

 TIPS FOR WALL-TO-WALL CLEANING

  • Professionally dry clean only. Natural fiber floor coverings may shrink, stain, or discolor if wet shampooed or steam cleaned.
